About Us
CapacityUK was established in its current form in 2005 as a UK-registered non-profit organisation with a clear purpose: to create real opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market by providing high-quality, community-based training and work experiencethat wouldn’t otherwise be accessible.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve life opportunities for people from disadvantaged communities by delivering high-quality functional skills, ESOL and vocational training in community settings and enabling access to wider opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
What We DO
To achieve our mission, CapacityUK delivers and supports a range of learner-focused programmes:
Vocational Programmes: Providing accredited courses in areas such as digital media, digital marketing, creative enterprise, and entrepreneurship. These courses are grounded in industry relevance, practical learning, and real-world application.
International Work Experience: Through programmes such as the UK’s Turing Scheme, in the past Erasmus and the Leonardo scheme, Capacity UK has delivered structured, paid European placements — including 30-day and 90-day work experience opportunities in cities like Seville (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal) and Prague (Czech Republic) — enabling learners to gain real professional experience abroad.
Functional Skills and ESOL Training: Building essential literacy, numeracy and English language skills that help learners access further education and work opportunities. Consultancy and Organisational Support: We also work with other training providers, NGOs and educational organisations to support bid writing, project management, centreaccreditation, and bespoke qualification development , helping strengthen capacity across the wider sector.
Our Approach
Capacity UK is shaped by a learner-centred philosophy:
Community-based learning: Bringing training and development into community settings where learners feel supported and included.
Accredited and meaningful outcomes: Courses lead to recognised qualifications, boosting credibility with employers.
Work readiness through experience: International placements combine classroom- based training, work experience, cultural immersion and pastoral support , equipping learners with both hard and soft skills for the workplace.
Why It Matters
Many of the people CapacityUK serves have been excluded from traditional learning and employment pathways due to socioeconomic barriers, language challenges, or lack of access to accredited training. Our programmes are designed to break these cycles by providing:
Recognised qualifications that enhance employability.
Real work experience that builds professional confidence.
Supportive learning environments that value diversity and inclusion.
